Summer’s End, New Beginnings
The summer days always seem to fly by faster than I’m ready for. One minute we are soaking up sunshine, making ice cream disappear, and serving what feels like hundreds of snacks a day. The next minute, I am pulling lunchboxes out of storage, cleaning backpacks with the kids, and creating and setting alarms for school morning again.
As a mom, I have loved the unstructured rhythm of summer - sleeping in, no frantic “Do you have everything for school?” moments, and no afterschool activities. But I would by lying if I said I won’t appreciate a break from cooking and serving breakfast, lunch, snacks, snacks, more snacks, and dinner every single day. My kitchen, especially my dishwasher, might just sign in relief.
This week, as our kids step into hallways filled with both excitement and nerves, I feel an even stronger pull to cover our schools in prayer. So, from my heart:
Heavenly Father,
We thank You for the gift of learning, for the chance to grow in wisdom, and for the people who guide us along the way. We lift up our Students. May they walk into their classrooms with courage, curiosity, and compassion. Guide their hearts, sharpen their minds, and remind them daily that they are wonderfully made. We lift up our Teachers and Staff. Bless them with patience, strength, and joy in the work they do. May they see each child through Your loving eyes and never doubt the impact they make. We lift up our Parents. Give them peach in letting go, wisdom in their guidance, and comfort in knowing You hold their children in Your hands. We lift up or Schools. May they be the places of safety, kindness, respect, and encouragement. Fill the hallways with Your presence and cover every corner with protection.
Lord, guide each step, every decision, and every interaction this school year. May it be a year of growth, grace, and goodness for all.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Summer may be ending, but a new season is beginning. One filled with fresh starts, learning, growth, and moments that will shape who our kids become. Let’s enter it with gratitude for what was and hope for what’s ahead.
To every parent packing lunches this week and every teacher prepping lesson plans: you are doing important, beautiful work. Here’s to a school year covered in prayer and overflowing with grace.
